Chemical Peels

Book Now

The term “Peel” is used to describe the application of an acidic chemical solution to the skin to speed the exfoliation of older upper skin layers. The removal of outer skin layers stimulates new healthy skin cell production. We use peels in the treatment of various skin concerns such as acne congestion, hyperpigmentation, fine lines, uneven skin tone, inflammation, rosacea, sun damage, impaired barrier/dryness, general ageing imperfections, and to assist in remodelling skin texture.

Removing damaged skin along with its associated imperfections, e.g. debris and dead skin, will supplement or enhance outcomes of other treatments. Peels are an effective treatment for many skin conditions when they are part of treatment plans that include the use of multiple modalities.

We use Marini Skin Solutions medical-grade peels. Marini Skin Solutions peel formulations are scientifically evidence based. This means scientific and medical research has shown the peels to be at the correct strengths and to have all the components necessary to make them both as effective and as safe as possible.

It’s essential that there is pre- and post-treatment preparation of the skin through a tailored treatment plan so that we maintain and also enhance the skin’s integrity going forward.

Treatment Types

Proteolytic Enzyme Peel

The proteolytic enzyme peel is an effective exfoliator. Comprehensive exfoliation removes damaged cells, revealing new healthy skin. The term “proteolytic” refers to the enzymatic reaction of digesting dead skin cells without harming normal healthy surrounding tissue. The improvement in skin texture, the feeling you are left with of smooth, fresh, glowing and clear skin, is immediate.

Suitability / Benefits / Preparation

  • The peel can be used on all skin types and can be used whilst pregnant & breastfeeding.

  • The proteolytic enzyme peel is a less aggressive treatment. It’s ideal for those trialling peel treatments, nervous about undertaking cosmetic treatments, or not wishing to have extended downtime periods.

  • It can be performed immediately before planned “events.”

  • Downtime from the treatment is short/minimal.

Treatment Duration: 30 mins

Refresher Peel

The Skin Refresher peel is a general all-round peel suitable to address one or multiple skin concerns. It will resurface, hydrate, refine and significantly reduce inflammation. The active ingredients used are glycolic acid and selected enzymes. These ingredients are teamed with anti-inflammatory botanicals and peptides. The peel cleans, exfoliates, then soothes and calms the skin.

  • The peel can be performed at any time of the year.

  • This peel has been shown to alleviate congestion and assist in acne clearance.

C-ESTA Enzyme Peel

The C-ESTA peel delivers large amounts of vitamin C along with pigment-brightening DMAE (Dimethylaminoethanol) into the skin. The peel is formulated to boost collagen, repair free radical damage, and enhance facial tone. C-ESTA will provide you with smoother, brighter and more supple skin whilst giving your face a lift and helping better define its contours.

 FAQs

  • Prior to application of the peel solution, your skin is checked for lesions or other contraindications which would preclude treatment occurring. All makeup is removed, and we cleanse the skin thoroughly. The peel solution is applied evenly and then removed after a preset period. Following removal of the peel solution, we apply cooling and peptides for patient comfort and to enhance the healing process, respectively. Sun barrier (sunscreen) is applied, and then you can go home.

  • Follow the instructions provided by your clinician. Sunscreen and good skincare increase peel outcome longevity and treatment efficacy. Immediately after treatment, new skin is exposed to elements (e.g. the sun) for the first time. New skin is sensitive and far more susceptible to damage than older skin.

  • Downtime is dependent on the peel undertaken, your skin condition, and whether you have other contributing factors (e.g. you’ve been/are a smoker).

  • The appearance of improvements in your skin is dependent on the peel undertaken and the condition of your skin. Typically, clients see noticeable improvement within fourteen days of treatment. The full effect of a treatment may take up to three months to be evident. Your clinician will advise you as to what you can expect and when.

  • All skin ages and dies with time. This statement applies to new, vibrant skin exposed by your most recent treatment. For the best long-term skin outcomes, you need to regularly, regimentally and continuously condition, care for and treat your skin. If you like the outcomes of your peel and want to see them maintained, you need to incorporate regular peels into your ongoing skin treatment plan.

  • Cost is dependent on the peel undertaken, the number of treatments sought and the size of the treatment area. Call 0407 586 731 for a brief tele-consultation including a guide on costs.

  • Side effects are dependent on the peel undertaken. The most common side effect is the intended shedding of skin (peeling). In addition to peeling, you might experience redness and sensitivity to the sun and heat. It’s important to be diligent in performing all parts of your post-treatment advice, particularly the sun care element. Failure to heed advice provided by your clinician will make you more susceptible to unnecessary and more undesirable side effects including hyperpigmentation or unnecessary scabbing and/or infection.

  • Chemical peels have been part of aesthetic medicine for more than fifty years and have an excellent safety record. The chemicals used have been scientifically researched and clinically tested.
